What are subwoofers used for?

Subwoofers are designed to handle the low-range frequencies of your music. Without a subwoofer, your speakers would be responsible for producing all frequency ranges but, by adding a subwoofer, it takes over the low-range frequencies and allows your speakers to produce better quality high- and mid-range frequencies.

Do marine audio systems require subwoofers?

Although subwoofers are not a required part of a marine audio system, it’s highly recommended that you add one to provide a high-level listening experience on board your boat. As mentioned above, subwoofers are designed to take workload off of your speakers and allow them to perform better which creates a fuller, more immersive sound experience.
