Mounting grab bar, instructions say to drill in reverse. How?? What does this mean?

When initially drilling, it is suggested to drill in the "reversed" position to keep from chipping gel coat or paint. This means set the drill in the position you would take a screw out, instead of the position to screw one in. I hope this helps!
